Varicose veins

25% of all persons over the age of 40 suffer from varicose veins.
These unsightly coiled superficial veins are caused by gravidity when a reflux in blood flow occurs which is due to insufficient vein valves.

Causes of varicose vein developement

It is known that varicose veins are genetically inherited.
Preventive care is recommended for everyone over 20 years of age.
According to the latest studies, 10% of children age 10-12 and 30% of children age 16 test positive for vein insufficiency. Therefore, we highly recommend our minimally invasive method of of vein therapy for children (over the age of 10 -12)
Other causes of varicose veins are obesity, lack of physical exercise,  multiple pregnancies and predominantely standing or sitting occupations.

Symptoms:

Aside aesthetics, other symptoms of varicose veins  are heavy, tired, swollen legs as well as muscle cramps.
In severe cases, varicose veins  may lead to deep vein thrombosis, lower leg ulceration or pulmonary infarction.

What are varicose veins?

Sack-like or cylindrical widened superficial veins in which blood flow gravitates towards the feet. This incorrect direction of blood flow causes strain to the veins which in fact should pump the blood back to the heart.
Deep vein thrombosis is a probable danger due to varicose vessels causing permanent damage to the deep veins

How do varicose veins occur?

Condition for healthy veins are well functioning vein valves.

When the walls of the veins become weakened, the distance between vein valves increases. The valves are then, unable to close completely due to blood reflux. This is the root of varicse veins. Weakened valves can no longer prevent a reflux of blood flow which causes the venous blood to flow from the deep veins into the superficial allowing an abnormal flow of the venous blood. The body is unable to heal itself of varicos veins causing them to increase which in turn causes increase damage to the deep veins.

How can varicose veins be treated?

The only help against varicose veins is to wear class 2 support stockings or to completely occlude the varicose vein.
Daily exercise helps preventively, but a complete diagnostic examination of veins and a minimal ivasive therapie of the varicose veins is imperative.
